Waldo Flea Market!

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

I dont’ know why I didn’t take a picture of Chris in his new cowboy hat, but here’s some sights from the Waldo Flea Market.

The overheard conversation highlight was 3 rednecks lamenting on the fact that they couldn’t find any guns.

not only are we playing the Fest VI

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

But we’re headlining REAX magazine’s closing night showcase at 1982.  Yeah, we know 1982 is like going to a smelly altoids box, but there are alot of kickass bands playing before us.

So, who knows what’s in store for this year.  Evidently the Fest is sold out, but they’re reserving 300 tickets to be sold in the city of Gainesville only.  Also, they’re allowing walkups to the show for 10 dollars, but are only allowing 20 people to do this at 1982 on the 28th.

Last year 1982 was pretty laid back about who got to come in, so give it a shot if you want.

NO room for error.

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

The Weather Channel predicted a 100% chance of rain tonight between 8 and 10 PM.

100%!!!

That means they GUARANTEED that it would rain tonight.

It did not rain tonight.  In fact, I checked the forecast from my phone as 8 o clock drew nearer and lo and behold, they changed it to a 30% chance of rain.

So, let’s get this straight.  It went from a 100% CHANCE OF RAIN to a 30% chance of rain.  That’s more than a 2/3 decrease in chances.

I wouldn’t be so mad if it wasn’t a 100% CHANCE OF RAIN.  Really though, I called the longshot tonight.  I declared “IT WILL NOT RAIN TONIGHT!”  Too bad this isn’t Vegas.

Anyway, the show rocked hard balls tonight and Marcqk from Odyssey kicked the crap out of the theremin.  It was awesome.   Thanks to everyone who came out.  And Inuit Jargon’s set was probably top 10 for performance and definitely top 5 for banter.

Our mailbox is gone!

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

We discovered that our neighborhood mailbox (with about 20 boxes) is gone.  No one knows where it is.  We’re not getting a new one yet, and we have to go downtown to the main post office to pick up our mail.

Hopefully, there was some good mail in there when it was swiped.

Spiced up XFL

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

Remember the XFL?  remember how it was supposed to be EXTREME?  Remember how it sucked?

Here’s my proposition for the new XFL.

1. line up 2 offenses against each other, each with their own ball.
2. Have 3 Defensive Linebackers on each team set up behind the running backs
3. Have 2 safeties on each team.
4. Have a countdown system where both teams have to snap the ball at the same time.
5. The play doesnt end until both balls are downed or one of the teams scores

Enjoy!

It would be great.  The linebackers/safeties could play offense on certain plays, but it would mean risking the other team capitalizing on the defensive weakness and scoring first.  Also, the offense could all play defense, trying to get the other team down first and then throwing a hail mary.

I don’t know.  How about it, McMahon family?

Cold! Current mood: New Radiohead Album!

Friday, October 12th, 2007

It’s cold today!!!!  And yes, I mean Floridian cold.  It’s 62 degrees outside as I type this at 10:30 AM.  62!!!!!  I know if you’re from Boston or Michigan, that’s a typical July afternoon, but you can all go to hell, this is the sweltering abyss that is north central florida.  The windows are open, the air is so fresh.  I love it.

Isn’t it weird how weather can evoke memories or feelings that you couldn’t otherwise?  It’s something about the combination of senses, sight, smell, taste, touch, sound that all hit you at once to overload your brain and send it into some sort of memory database relapse.   I love fall!
